North Coast Naturals {Giveaway}

Hi friends! I have an awesome giveaway for you today courtesy of North Coast Naturals — a Canadian (yay) company specializing in natural, plant-based and certified organic nutrition and natural health products.

Box of goodies2

I like using protein powder — it’s convenient, great for fueling/re-fueling and makes amazing pancakes. The wonderful people over at North Coast Naturals sent me a bunch of their products to try, including protein powders, nutritional shakes and hemp seeds. So let me tell you a bit about the products you have a chance to win.

Organic Hemp Protein

  • Ingredients: 100% Organic Certified Hemp Protein
  • Nutrition: Per 2 tbsp: 110 calories, 15g protein, 2.5 g fat, 9g carbs, 8g fibre, 0g sugar
  • Benefits: Complete whole food protein source, non-GMO, vegan easily digestable, contains edestin and albumin proteins
  • Uses: smoothies, shakes, oatmeal, bars, pancakes…
  • More info: click here

Thoughts: Hemp protein does not exactly taste “good” but its’ flavor is easily masked when mixed with other things like banana, frozen fruit, cocoa powder and nuts. I didn’t love it in smoothies, but I’m also not a huge smoothie fan (especially in colder weather). My favorite ways to use it is in bars and pancakes. I made No-Bake Hemp Protein Bars

and they are so easy and delicious. My Green Monstah Pancakes
are also pretty fabulous if I do say so myself. Heather’s Thin Mint Cookie Pancakes
uses hemp protein and are sooo yummy too.

Organic Brown Rice Protein

  • Ingredients: Certified Organic Brown Rice Protein
  • Nutrition: Per 1 tbsp: 75 calories, 12g protein, 2 g fat, 2.5g carbs, 0.5g fibre, 0g sugar
  • Benefits: Complete whole food protein source, vegan, good source of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids,
  • Uses: smoothies, shakes, oatmeal, bars, pancakes…
  • More info: click here

Thoughts: Brown rice protein was totally new to me and it was love at first stack… of pancakes. Duh! Are you at all surprised? A tablespoon of the brown rice protein to pancakes adds a nutritional boost to fluffy deliciousness. I also stirred it into my oatmeal and other hot cereal — because it is basically flavorless, I liked adding a few drops of stevia or a teaspoon of honey and mixing it with fruit.

You’ll have to wait for this pancake recipe when I drop by the North Coast Naturals blog next month — trust me, it is well worth it :)

Ultimate Daily Cleanse

  • Ingredients: Ground 100% Canadian Flax Seed, Psyllium Seed Husk, Inulin (Fiber from Chicory Root), Organic Pumpkin Seed Powder, Organic Sprouted Brown Rice Powder, Bacterial Culture
  • Nutrition: Per 1/3 cup: 140 calories, 14g fibre, 5g protein, 9g fat, 16g carbs, 0g sugar
  • Benefits: Complete fiber formula with healthy probiotics, aids in cleansing and digestion, lots of fiber!
  • Uses: smoothies, shakes, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, bars, pancakes…
  • More info: click here

Thoughts: I used this product sparingly because I already get a lot of fiber in my diet and too much of that… well ya know. I did not like it as the shake but it was tasty sprinkled on hot cereal (I used just a tablespoon or so). My favorite use for the Daily Cleanse was in these High Fiber Oat and Almond Bars

I used peanuts in place of the almonds — delicious, especially with some raspberry jam. Great pre-workout snack!

  1. I’m still a protein powder novice, and I’ve not yet tried it in pancakes, but I really like the idea of eating protein powder made of natural ingredients. The funky stuff in protein powder is what has made me a bit wary of it in the first place. I love the idea of brown rice protein powder. Being the unhip blogger that I am, I really don’t know what hemp IS, but I’m sure that’s even more impressive than the brown rice. This is a great giveaway! Too bad I don’t live in the Great White North.

  2. I love, love, love, LOVE NCN! I haven’t tried any of these products yet but if they are the same quality as their hemp smoothies then I may need to pick them up!
