A few weeks ago (actually it was kind of awhile ago, oops), my friend Rose and I were talking about parties and party food. She said that she often felt like parties or “wine and cheese” nights with friends are super unhealthy. While going to parties with copious amounts of food and drink seems like a health disaster, it really doesn’t have to be the case.
Sure if your friend made her famous gluten-filled cinnamon buns and you are craving a bite (or two or three), go for it. But you can still have delicious options that are pretty darn good for ya too.
It’s really as simple as cutting some veggies, mashing some avocados and dipping some strawberries in dark chocolate. Easy enough right? But if you are looking to impress a bit further than that (but really not overcomplicate things) think about this:
Try out some of these ideas for your next party or food-filled gathering!
Chicken Bites – perfect little bite of protein! Serve with toothpicks, salsa or organic (or homemade) ketchup. They are grain free – paleo friendly.
Salmon Sweet Potato Cakes – Make them into smaller, bite-size patties for a cute little app… maybe even serve them on a leaf of lettuce? Also paleo friendly
Easy Baked Meatballs – Another little bite of protein to pop on a toothpick! Yes, also paleo friendly.
Easy Baked Falafel – Don’t forget about your non-meat-eating-guests! These little bites of chickpeas are perfect with toothpicks as well and your vegan, vegetarian and gluten free guests will eat them right up!
Easy Roasted Brussels Sprouts – Because… veggies! Your vegan and paleo/meat-eating guests will love these.
Kale Chips & Eggplant Dip – Because… dips are so party time! Vegan & paleo friendly as well.
Sweet Potato Latkes – Because every party needs something fried! Vegetarian (contains egg) and paleo friendly.
4 Ingredient Coconut Banana Cookies – Because… dessert time! Such easy and delicious cookies: nut free, vegan friendly and paleo approved.
Black Bean Brownies – If you want to sneak in some fiber to your dessert… gluten free and vegan options.
Orange Cashew Chocolate Chip Cookies – More cookies? Why not… grain free, vegan & paleo approved.
