Breakfast Recipe Round-up

How many times have you heard that “breakfast is the most important meal of the day”? Many, right? Well it certainly has validity: starting your day with a nutrient dense breakfast is super important to regulate your blood glucose levels and maintain satiety – but I’m not going to rant about that today.

My view of breakfast has certainly changed over the years. From Frosted Flakes to bagels and cream cheese to yogurt and granola to protein pancakes to overnight oats and “green smoothies”. None of that really worked for me… and now my breakfasts look more like dinner to most people.

I never thought I’d say that ground beef + kale + salsa + avocado is one of my favorite breakfasts… but it is. #rethinkbreakfast

Crazy as it may sound, it truly works for me and makes me feel great. But I totally get that this bowl of food doesn’t appeal to everyone at 7am – and I still love some pancakes every now and again!

  1. Great post lady. My breakfasts sure have changed over the years too. Weetabix with sugar and milk, to bagels and peanut butter, to oats so simple to REAL FOOD. I tend to crave savoury breakfasts over sweet now which is crazy for this girl who hated savoury breakfasts. Breakfast now is a big mix of whatever my body wants. From eggs, avo and a banana to a coconut quinoa porridge – boom! By the way I totally get your obsession with salsa now. Our American friends put it on everything they make us and now I am addicted.

  2. Love this post! Breakfast is my favorite – I can never leave the house in the morning without having eaten breakfast. My favorites right now are omelettes with a side of bacon and paleo pumpkin/banana pancakes. Yum! I’m dying to try zeggs though! Need to pick up some zucchini :)
