Family Dinner [WIAW 8]

Hi everyone! Happy What I Ate Wednesday! Aka What I Ate Sunday because Sunday was the only day I remembered to photograph all of my eats. It’s definitely easier on the weekend and less awkward since my family is used to it… kinda weird at work.

Anyways here’s another day in the life of my plate which quickly goes in my tummy…

 

What I Ate Wednesday Sunday

Breakfast: After my workout I dug into a bowl of oatmeal french toast — thanks Morganne! I haven’t had this in so long; I almost forgot how delicious this combo is. In the mix: oats, egg whites, almond milk, almond butter, banana, cinnamon, vanilla topped with a little extra banana and strawberries.

Morning snack: A bowl of melon. Not just any kind of melon though… the best kind of melon on this earth… canary melon. The juiciest, sweetest fruit ever. I discovered canary melons when I was in Spain last summer and have found ONE grocery store in Toronto that sometimes has them in stock. Anytime I am nearby I buy one! I may or may not eat an entire melon in one sitting.

Lunch: For lunch I whipped up an egg white omelette with spinach, half an Ezekiel english muffin with avocado, delicious cherry tomatoes and a pear. [not pictured]

Pre-yoga: I was really in the mood for a hot, stretch session but did not want my tummy grumbling during downward dog. I opted for Barbara’s puffins cereal, almond milk and a banana.

Dinner: We had a family dinner on Sunday night (aw cuuuuuute) so I left the cooking to mom and dad. We started with bean soup courtesy of mom [not pictured] which is delicious but you know what they say about beans… eek TMI?! Sorry…

For the main meal, dad roasted a chicken in the oven (my fave) and we had some broccoli and a tomato salad on the side. Fresh and delicious!

Dessert: Raspberries were on super sale this weekend — buy one get one free! I had an entire box with some melted almond butter and a sprinkling of chocolate chips. Delicious addition to Keeping up with the Kardashians… don’t judge please.

  1. Um, hello, all of those meals are beautiful!! I really need to get into this whole oat/oatmeal/overnight oats thing. I’m not sure if I’d like them, but everyone makes them look so good (plus I think anything topped with strawberries immediately looks good).

  2. I’m a big fan of putting egg whites in my oatmeal! I usually cook mine with milk and water, egg whites, cinnamon, chia seeds and some sliced banana for sweetness, then add toppings. I seriously eat this like 5x a week haha.

    I completely understand with what you mean about documenting your eats at work! I try to when I can in my office, but doesn’t always work out {especially when you are so busy} I think I shall start doing WIAW and do my documentation on the weekend!

    Best thing I have eaten recently would be MANGO!! I tried it for the first time this month and I’m in love!! {little birds chirping} hehe

  4. Everything looks so fabulous! I’ve been on a breakfast sandwich kick lately (they’re my favorite!). I keep stock of egg whites, turkey sausage and salsa on hand. mix it all up, throw it in microwave (or skillet if I am not running low on time) and voila, throw it on a bagel thin and it’s good to go!

  5. I’ve never even heard of canary melon! I’m going to have to keep a lookout for that because it looks so good. I’m super jealous of your family dinner, that’s one of the things I hate about living 2,000 miles away from my family. Looks like you had a great healthy Sunday!

  6. Melons are some of the best refreshing summer snacks around – especially if frozen. I think I’ve had canary melon before though I’m not entirely sure of its translation so I might be wrong. If it’s the one I assume, though, it’s really delish and I used to be obsessed with it one summer a few years ago :).
    Now I really wish I could find puffins around here. Every US blogger keeps raving about them.
    Family dinner sounds great and I wish my parents didn’t live that far away. Glad you enjoyed it!

    1. I’ve never had them frozen. What a great idea! I finally found Puffins at a few health food stores but they are definitely not easy to find in Canada. Hoping you stumble upon a box.
